Diagnostics (Pets)

We continually invest in high quality diagnostic equipment to provide you with fast, accurate diagnoses which provides the best value for money and allows more precise prognostication.

At the end of the day - finding out what is wrong with your pet and what can be expected from his/her condition is our main concern.

In house Biochemistry Machines:
We offer in house blood chemistry machines to improve the accuracy and time taken to reach a diagnosis.  These machines test for imbalances in the blood such as would occur with renal failure, liver disease, metabolic disease etc.
These machines forms an integral part of modern veterinary science and compliments our array of diagnostic aids.

Digital Radiography: (x-rays)
We recently changed over to digital x-rays.
Digital Radiography has many advantages over manual/film processing.  It allows for much improved detail and is as such a much more sensitive diagnostic tool. It's faster (important in critical cases) and more reliable.  Its also greener as the harmful developing chemicals is something of the past.  It allows for easier sharing and a specialist radiographer can now examine the radiograph on the same day.  Hip and elbow scoring is now easier, quicker and more accurate...

Ultrasonography:

Our 2 practices now have four scanners.  We use a dedicated small animal scanner in each of the two branches.
Ultrasonography (sonar) is a useful diagnostic aid for many organ systems but especially true in abdominal organs.  Reproductive scanning is among one of it's more common uses - monitoring your dogs pregnancy is now quick and effective.

Microscopy:
Microscopy still forms the diagnostic basis of many commonplace conditions and is useful for determining a course of action in skin cases, biliary, ear problems, feacal examinations and nodules/tumours.
It you ask politely then you can have a look under the microscope for yourself...

Other smaller diagnostic equipment:
A number of smaller diagnostic tools is also used frequently.  These includes refractometers (for urine concentration determinations), woods lamps (for use in ringworm cases), centrifuges, feacal flotation devices, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes etc.
All of these work together in order to make a diagnosis faster, more accurate and give your pet the best possible treatment.
